Of DJs, explosions and celebrities
Nothing like a few acetylene gas explosions to put an end to your post-DJ-AM reverie.
The Ghostbar show was fun last night, but I’ll get to that in a second, because I need to tell you: I met Chris Tucker!
He was hanging out in the Ghostbar VIP last night, dancing in a dark suit. I tapped him on the shoulder and mumbled something lame about how much I was looking forward to his next movie. He smiled and said thank-you. Then I continued mumbling, and he smiled and said thank-you again.
He was so nice. I love Chris Tucker.
Ok, DJ AM. He was good. I liked his set more at the beginning, because he played a lot of old and random stuff that I wasn’t expecting. One of his opening songs was Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam’s “Take You Home.” I looove that song. Too bad no one else cared. My friend and I were the only ones jamming out.
Other highlights: "Let’s Hear It for the Boy" mixed with David Bowie’s “Pressure.” That was a little disjointed, but I adore Let’s Hear it for the Boy, so I didn’t care. Also, Phil Collins “You Can’t Hurry Love.” AM is bringing PC back! Now we just need to hear “Easy Lover” and I’d be a happy lady.
The Ghostbar crowd was actually a lot more diverse than I’ve seen it in awhile. The Asian peeps were representing in a big way… I was happy to see that. Plus dress was a lot more casual than it usually is (lotsa people in jeans), which was nice.
Overall, very fun time, especially because it was free. People who love music, check him out next time he’s here, so we can overrun the crowd and actually have people EXCITED TO DANCE.

I was pleasantly surprised at DJ AM, too. I didn't expect that many hitz (spliced up as they were). I think the most underground thing he played was that Justice track, and it's pretty much not underground anymore.

Did he play your all-time favorite, Poison? A party ain't a party without the BBD!

No, he did not play Poison, thank god. But he should have played "Thought it was me." His coolness factor would have gone way up!
Also, gracias for commenting.... you should do it more often.

"AM is bringing PC back!"
Come on, Lesley. We all know Phil Collins never left.

Umm... I hope you really mean that, because I don't take well to people hating on PC. My dad is like the hugest fan EVER, and I think some of it has rubbed off on me.
