Despite living in Dallas for most of my life, it wasn't until this weekend that I made my first visit to the Mesquite Championship Rodeo. My wife had some friends in from out of town who wanted to go.

I couldn't believe how little of the music played during the rodeo was country music. The only country song I recall was George Strait's "The Fireman," and that was played only because one of the cowboys was a Dallas firefighter.
